Management Accountant
Company: Confidential Location: Tema, Ghana Contract type: Permanent, full-time
Job Context
A reputable food manufacturing company based in Tema is recruiting a Management Accountant for its operations. The position reports to the Deputy Managing Director (F&A).
Main Responsibilities
Develop and maintain standard costing systems for cocoa-based products (liquor, butter, cake, powder, chocolate).
Monitor and analyze costs at each processing stage (bean reception, roasting, grinding, pressing, packaging).
Perform variance analysis (materials, labor, overheads) and report inefficiencies.
Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts in line with production plans.
Model the financial impact of cocoa price fluctuations set by the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
Manage inventory valuation (raw cocoa beans, work-in-progress, finished goods).
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Ensure compliance with IFRS standards and Ghanaian financial regulations.
Contribute to tax returns (GRA) and statutory filings.
Ensure adherence to internal controls and audit requirements.
Prepare financial reports required by COCOBOD or other regulators (as applicable).
Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics teams.Desired Profile
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Master's degree in accounting or finance.
Professional certification (ACCA, CIMA, ICA Ghana) strongly preferred.
3 to 7 years of experience in management accounting, with strong experience in cost accounting and inventory management.
Analytical and financial modeling skills, proficiency in ERP (SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel; knowledge of commodity markets (especially cocoa) is an asset.
Accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and cost per ton of cocoa processed.
Monitoring of budget vs actual performance, inventory accuracy and shrinkage rate, contribution to cost savings and efficiency improvements.
