About the Role The External Relations and Advocacy Advisor will assist in executing MSI’s External Relations and Advocacy strategy under the Chief Executive Office, collaborating closely with fundraising and communications teams. This position plays a key role in advancing MSI’s advocacy efforts, establishing thought leadership, securing funding, fostering partner engagement, enhancing communications, and organizing events to ensure MSI effectively shapes global policy and funding priorities. Additionally, the role involves sharing political and situational analyses, evidence, and data to serve as a proactive and strategic partner for governments, donors, and the broader sector. This position will play a key role in shaping and executing MSI’s external engagement strategy across critical industry platforms, enhancing the organization’s prominence, credibility, and impact in international and regional discussions while fostering robust partnerships with key sector leaders and donor entities. Approximately 60% of the responsibilities associated with this role will focus on these strategic objectives. This position comprises a significant operational component, accounting for roughly 40% of responsibilities, focused on ensuring the team’s workflow remains efficient and uninterrupted. Key duties involve overseeing reporting procedures, developing and managing budgets, initiating and monitoring purchase orders, arranging travel and logistics, assisting with events, and collaborating with internal departments such as finance, operations, donor compliance, and IT.

To qualify for this position, the following competencies are required: Fluency in both spoken and written English, coupled with strong communication abilities, is essential for this position. Exceptional capacity to consistently deliver results under stringent deadlines, regardless of geographical or time zone constraints. Demonstrates strong analytical and research capabilities, adept at distilling intricate documents into clear, concise summaries. Demonstrated proficiency in delivering comprehensive policy analysis and distilling intricate information into practical, actionable recommendations tailored to varied stakeholders. Exceptional aptitude for conveying ideas effectively through both written and oral communication channels. Proven capability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively while maintaining high performance standards under tight deadlines or high-pressure situations. A collaborative professional who demonstrates strong self-motivation and takes proactive steps to drive initiatives forward. Individuals applying for this position must demonstrate profound expertise in utilizing the Microsoft Office suite, PowerPoint, and Canva proficiently. Individuals possessing a strong background in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) will be viewed favorably. Fluency in French, desirable. For this position, the ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications: Seasoned professionals with a proven track record in collaborating effectively across multifaceted teams to align and execute diverse organizational priorities are encouraged to apply. Proven ability to evaluate and integrate intricate documents effectively. Experienced in serving as an external representative for an organization. Experienced in establishing and sustaining operational support structures within a professional office setting. Experienced in performing administrative duties such as budget management, processing purchase orders, and organizing logistics for external events. Formal education/qualification: Experience-based qualification is acceptable in lieu of formal education for this position.

Location: London, UK (with a requirement to be on-site for at least two days each week) or at any of MSI’s country programs where operations are conducted.

Full-time: Full-time position requiring a 35-hour workweek, structured Monday through Friday.

Contract type: Permanent.

Salary: The compensation for UK-based candidates ranges from £34,200 to £42,750. For applicants from other countries, the salary will be adjusted to align with regional pay scales. Salary band: BG 7.

For employees based in an MSI program country applying internally, the role will align with the established salary framework of the designated country, with all local terms and conditions remaining applicable.
