Sustainability, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Specialist

ESG & MEL Specialist To contribute to the execution of a European Union-funded initiative in manufacturing and engineering, emphasizing industrial enhancement, machinery deployment, workforce upskilling, and employment generation. This role presents an exceptional chance to spearhead sustainability compliance initiatives and track performance outcomes within a rapidly expanding engineering and manufacturing setting.
About the Role
The ESG & MEL Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all workshop operations and project activities adhere to EU environmental, social, and governance standards, as well as fulfilling relevant reporting obligations. Additionally, the role will involve monitoring and evaluating production and development outcomes to assess their immeasurability and impact. This position integrates industrial operations, regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and donor reporting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations concerning waste management, emissions control, energy consumption, and chemical handling procedures. Maintain adherence to workshop safety standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/ragout (LOT) procedures, and machine guarding requirements. Monitor and analyze progress towards achieving gender and youth employment objectives. Oversee the management and monitoring of indicator tracking systems within the EU Log frame framework. Compose quarterly and annual narrative reports detailing donor activities and contributions. We facilitate European Union (EU) audit and Results-Oriented Monitoring (ROM) missions. Maintain comprehensive risk registers and sustainability plans to ensure effective risk management and alignment with organizational objectives. Verify that all production outputs are accurately associated with machinery funded by the European Union.
What We’re Looking For
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Management, Project Management, or a closely related discipline is required. With a minimum of two to six years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, engineering, ESG compliance, or maintenance and engineering (M&E), you will be a strong candidate for this role. Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of industrial safety protocols and environmental regulations. Accomplished professionals should possess practical expertise in Logical Framework Analysis (Log frame) and Results-Based Management (RBM) methodologies. Proficient in Excel with a strong aptitude for data reporting and analysis. We uphold the highest standards of integrity and precision in all aspects of our work. A background in EU-funded initiatives is highly desirable.
