ESG & MEL Specialist To assist with the execution of an EU-funded initiative aimed at enhancing manufacturing and engineering capabilities through industrial modernization, machinery deployment, workforce upskilling, and employment generation. This role presents a distinctive chance to spearhead sustainability compliance initiatives and assess performance outcomes within an expanding engineering and manufacturing organization. About the Role The ESG & MEL Specialist will be responsible for verifying that our workshop operations and project activities align with EU environmental, social, and governance standards, as well as reporting obligations. Additionally, the role involves monitoring and evaluating measurable production and development results to ensure compliance and effectiveness. This position integrates industrial operations, compliance, sustainability, and donor reporting functions. Key Responsibilities Ensure adherence to environmental regulations concerning waste management, emissions control, energy consumption, and chemical handling procedures. Ensure adherence to all workshop safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adherence to Lockout/Ragout (LOT) procedures, and proper implementation of machine guarding measures. Monitor and report on progress towards achieving gender and youth employment objectives. Maintain the systems used for tracking indicators within the EU Log frame framework. Compile quarterly and annual narrative reports summarizing donor-related activities and contributions. We assist with European Union (EU) audit and Results-Oriented Monitoring (ROM) missions. Prepare and oversee risk registers and sustainability plans, ensuring accurate documentation and alignment with organizational objectives. Verify the accuracy and completeness of production outputs associated with machinery funded by the European Union. What We’re Looking For A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Management, Project Management, or a closely related discipline is required. With a minimum of two to six years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, engineering, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance, or mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems, the ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation and practical expertise to the role. Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of industrial safety protocols and environmental regulations. Experienced in Logical Framework Approach (Log frame) and Results-Based Management (RBM) methodologies. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience in compiling and analyzing data reports are essential for this role. Candidates should demonstrate advanced capabilities in utilizing Excel functions, pivot tables, and data visualization tools to produce insightful reports. Maintains a high standard of integrity and demonstrates meticulous attention to detail in all responsibilities.
