UNESCO recruits National Project Manager (Education) in DRC The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization is an international specialized agency of the United Nations, created on 16 November 1945 following the damage and massacres of the Second World War. POST 1: National Project Manager (Education) / DRC
Job overview
The professionalization of the teaching profession is thus a major priority of education policy in the DRC. In this context, the Government has decided to set up Institutes of Training for Teaching Professions (IFME). The mission of these institutes is: (i) to train post-baccalaureate basic education teachers, and (ii) to provide on-the-job training for school principals, teaching counsellors and itinerant inspectors. This reform is also accompanied by a renovation of the Humanities Pedagogiques (HPR), designed in a logic of continuity and complementarity with IFME, in order to strengthen the professionalization of initial training courses. A reflection on the articulation between HRPs and IFMEs, particularly in terms of progressive deployment and sustainability, must be conducted to ensure the consistency of the national teacher training system. The implementation of IFMEs, accompanied by the Molakisi Telema and EFFICACE projects, is based on two complementary components:
Responsibilities
An infrastructure component, including the construction of the buildings and equipment of the institutes, which will be placed under the responsibility of DINAC with technical support;
Main duties
An educational and organizational component covering the development of training curricula, the definition of the operating and management framework, the upskilling of actors, a component led by DIFORE in connection with its missions. In view of the upcoming implementation of IFMEs, UNESCO’s technical expertise was requested to ensure support for the pedagogical and organizational aspects of the initial training reform concerned by both projects. More specifically, UNESCO’s support will focus on three areas: Support effective and sustainable governance of initial training; Set up an organizational and educational system of IFMEs; Ensure rigorous and continuous monitoring of the start-up of IFMEs. Under the authority of the Assistant Director-General for Education, direct supervision of the Head of UNESCO’s Office in the DRC and in close collaboration with the Education Sector Officer, the project manager will be responsible for managing, coordinating, planning and implementing the activities of the project to support the pedagogical and organizational operationalization of educational trade training institutes (IFME) in the DRC.

Expert Application Advice

- •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
- •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
- •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
- •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
- •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
- •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
