Trade Zone Limited is actively seeking a seasoned IT Specialist to fill a position in Lusaka. As an IT specialist, your responsibilities will include administering system updates, addressing user inquiries, and enhancing our technology framework to meet organizational objectives. The preferred candidate will supervise the company’s IT infrastructure, diagnose technical issues, and deliver expert guidance to maintain seamless operational performance. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead efficiency and innovation initiatives while ensuring the protection of our digital resources.
Duties & Responsibilities
Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, software, and network administration systems constitutes the core responsibilities of this role. Duties include setting up and managing IT infrastructure components, ensuring optimal system performance, and performing routine maintenance to uphold reliability and security standards. Additionally, the position requires administering network systems to support seamless connectivity and operational efficiency.
Responsible for diagnosing and resolving IT-related problems, restoring system functionality during outages, and delivering comprehensive technical support to end-users. Ensuring the continuous monitoring of system performance and verifying that all IT resources operate at peak uptime levels.
Developing and overseeing IT security protocols to safeguard systems against potential threats and vulnerabilities is a key responsibility. You will provide support for data backup procedures, disaster recovery planning, and their execution.
Overseeing inventory management for IT equipment and providing strategic recommendations for upgrades or replacements as needed. Responsibilities include the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation pertaining to IT policies, procedures, and troubleshooting guides intended for internal organizational use.
Performing regular system evaluations and audits to verify adherence to established organizational IT standards. We work closely with various departments to assess technology needs and seamlessly introduce innovative solutions.
Observe network traffic patterns to detect and address any connectivity disruptions promptly. Configure and set up servers, printers, and peripheral devices to support company operations. Conduct regular maintenance tasks and oversee resource allocation to enhance system performance, minimize expenses, and sustain operational efficiency.
Liaise with vendors to procure systems, secure warranties, or arrange external support services as needed. Provide prompt and effective resolution to technical support tickets submitted by employees or departments encountering technical challenges. Establish new user accounts, configure email systems, and deploy devices for team members.
Requirements and skills
Grade 12 certification with five (5) Ordinary Level (“O” Level) passes is required. A diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Demonstrated expertise gained through 3 to 5 years of professional experience in IT specialist positions, technical support, system analysis, network administration, or comparable technical roles is required.
Demonstrated expertise in managing and utilizing various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS, as well as a strong understanding of network technologies. Proficient in network administration protocols, firewall management, and IT security best practices. Accomplished in diagnosing and resolving both hardware and software challenges with a methodical approach.
Proficiency in cloud computing environments, including but not limited to AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, is required. Individuals must possess a mature and professional demeanor, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
