Senior Operations Manager We invite you to become an integral member of our leadership team at Kazue National Park. Position Purpose The Senior Operations Manager leads the Park’s Conservation and Operations division, directing operational planning, infrastructure development and upkeep, fleet management, logistics, procurement, law enforcement assistance, and additional operational initiatives. This position guarantees that operational systems, resources, and staff align seamlessly with the Park’s conservation goals. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will: Lead the charge in crafting, executing, overseeing, and evaluating the Conservation and Operations work plan and budget, ensuring full alignment with the Park Strategy and Five-Year Business Plan. To guarantee that the Conservation and Operations team is adequately staffed with personnel, equipped with necessary tools and resources, and provided with sufficient financial and operational support. Provide strategic direction for infrastructure project planning, execution, and ongoing upkeep, with a strong emphasis on maintaining fiscal responsibility and rigorous cost oversight throughout all phases. Maintain adherence to established procurement policies and procedures, encompassing tender processes, contractor oversight, and contract administration. Oversee the Park’s entire fleet of vehicles, aircraft, boats, and operational assets, ensuring strict adherence to all licensing, permit, and maintenance schedules, as well as preventative servicing requirements. Foster and uphold an unwavering commitment to health, safety, and risk management principles throughout all operational functions. Responsibilities include managing logistics, procurement, warehousing, and inventory processes to maintain optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness throughout operations. Provide comprehensive logistical support, essential equipment, and operational resources to ensure the effective management, development, and operational readiness of the Law Enforcement function. Coordinate and facilitate law enforcement training initiatives—such as refresher, advanced, and in-house programs—in partnership with the Law Enforcement Advisor. Participate in wildlife translocation projects and other mandated conservation efforts as needed. Provide operational assistance and coordination to research collaborators, visiting scholars, media production teams, and other authorized external parties. Spearhead the Park’s comprehensive fire management strategy by guaranteeing staff receive proper training, equipment is consistently maintained, and operational readiness remains at peak levels. Develop a high-performing, values-driven team culture emphasizing accountability, collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement. Guarantee that all operational activities comply fully with African Parks’ established policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Compile and deliver precise operational reports and performance metrics to the Park Manager in accordance with established deadlines. In the absence of the Park Manager or as otherwise assigned, you will serve as their authorized representative. Oversee a team of eight managers, providing strategic leadership and direction to drive operational activities toward the successful and timely achievement of organizational goals. Minimum Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria: Version: Applicants must hold a recognized tertiary qualification in Conservation Management, Wildlife Management, or Natural Resource Management. Project A degree in Management, Operations Management, or a closely related field is required; alternatively, relevant hands-on experience may be deemed equivalent. Sound financial management capabilities, encompassing budget formulation, expenditure oversight, and strategic resource allocation, are essential for this role. Demonstrated expertise in overseeing multiple intricate projects and cross-functional teams concurrently. Skilled in managing stakeholders across diverse sectors, including government agencies, local communities, tourism operators, and development partners. Proven capability to perform efficiently in fast-paced, demanding, and rapidly changing work settings. Required is a high level of physical fitness along with the adaptability to perform effectively in remote field environments.
