Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), established under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02), stands as the leading provider of housing and complementary services in Malawi. Originally tasked with constructing residential units, developing plots, and maintaining properties, the Corporation’s mandate was significantly broadened in December 2016 through legislative amendments, allowing it to function as a commercial entity committed to delivering quality and affordable housing solutions. As part of our ongoing expansion, we are actively recruiting seasoned and highly qualified professionals to fill critical roles within our organization. Prospective candidates should demonstrate a blend of academic distinction, relevant professional certifications, hands-on experience, and specialized competencies aligned with our strategic goals.

Position: Land Surveyor Location: Regional Office (North), Mzuzu Grade: HC 7 Reporting Line: Regional Manager (North)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the computation processes for cadastral surveys.
  • Perform comprehensive land surveys, including cadastral and topographic assessments, across the region for MHC and external clients.
  • Address land survey requests and boundary disputes promptly.
  • Develop strategic plans and allocate budgets for the survey section.
  • Collaborate with the Estates Management Section to resolve encroachment issues on MHC land holdings.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and upkeep of survey equipment.
  • Compile and submit timely progress reports on regional land survey activities.
  • Assign tasks and conduct performance evaluations for team members.

Minimum Educational & Professional Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Land Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
  • Mandatory registration with the Surveyors Institute of Malawi or another recognized professional body.

Desired Experience & Competencies:

  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in land surveying.
  • Extensive expertise in various survey methodologies and operational procedures.
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and coordination capabilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Self-motivation, resilience, and adaptability to challenging and demanding environments.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
