Professional Land Surveying Specialist

Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), established under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02), serves as the leading provider of housing and related services in Malawi. Our primary functions include constructing residential units, developing plots, and maintaining existing properties. Following the December 2016 amendment to the Act, MHC transitioned into a commercial entity, reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality and affordable housing solutions. We are currently seeking highly skilled and experienced professionals to fill critical roles within our organization. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a blend of academic distinction, professional certifications, relevant work experience, and the specialized skills necessary to advance our strategic goals. Position: Land Surveyor Location: Regional Office (North), Mzuzu Grade: HC 7 Reporting Line: Regional Manager (North) Core Responsibilities: – Oversee and execute computational tasks for cadastral surveys. – Conduct comprehensive land surveys (both cadastral and topographic) across the northern region for MHC and external clients. – Address Land Survey requests and resolve boundary disputes promptly. – Develop strategic plans and allocate budgets for the survey section. – Collaborate with the Estates Management Section to address encroachment issues on MHC-owned land. – Ensure the proper maintenance and upkeep of surveying equipment. – Prepare and submit regular progress reports on land survey operations within the region. – Assign tasks and evaluate staff performance. Minimum Academic & Professional Requirements: – A Bachelor of Science degree in Land Surveying. – Mandatory registration with the Surveyors Institute of Malawi or an equivalent professional body. Required Work Experience: – A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in land surveying. Essential Competencies & Skills: – Proficiency in all survey types and operational methodologies. – Strong leadership, planning, and coordination abilities. – Proficiency in computer applications. – Self-driven, resilient, and capable of working extended hours in challenging conditions. – Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
