Professional Land Surveyor & Mapping Specialist

Paragraph: Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), the leading provider of housing and related services in Malawi, was established under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02). Our primary functions include constructing residential units, developing land parcels, and maintaining existing properties. Following the December 2016 amendment of the Act, MHC transitioned into a commercial entity, further enhancing our capacity to deliver quality and affordable housing solutions. We are currently seeking highly skilled and experienced professionals to fill critical roles within our organization. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong academic background, relevant professional certifications, extensive experience, and the specialized competencies necessary to advance our strategic goals. Position: Land Surveyor Location: Regional Office (North), Mzuzu Grade: HC 7 Reporting Line: Regional Manager (North) Core Responsibilities: – Oversee computations for cadastral surveys. – Perform comprehensive land surveys, including cadastral and topographic surveys, for MHC and external clients. – Address land survey requests and resolve boundary disputes promptly. – Develop and manage budgets for the survey section. – Collaborate with the Estates Management Section to address encroachments on MHC land reserves. – Ensure proper maintenance of survey equipment. – Generate and submit timely progress reports on regional land survey activities. – Assign tasks and evaluate staff performance. Minimum Qualifications & Professional Requirements: – Bachelor of Science Degree in Land Surveying. – Mandatory registration with the Surveyors Institute of Malawi or an equivalent recognized professional body. Professional Experience: – Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in land surveying. Key Competencies & Skills: – In-depth expertise in various survey methods and operations. – Strong leadership, organizational, and coordination abilities. – Proficiency in computer applications. – Self-motivation, resilience, and the capacity to work extended hours in challenging conditions. – Ability to work effectively within a team framework.
