Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), a pioneering institution in Malawi’s housing sector since its establishment under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02), stands as the leading provider of housing solutions and related services. Following the December 2016 amendment to the Act, MHC transitioned into a commercial entity, reinforcing its commitment to delivering quality and affordable housing across the country. Position: Maintenance Clerk Location: Regional Offices (South and East) Grade: HC 12 Reporting Line: Maintenance Supervisor / Regional Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Compile and verify reports submitted by tenants, initiating job cards to facilitate Tradesman intervention. Reconcile job cards and coordinate the requisition of materials for various operational units. Process material requisitions submitted by Tradesmen following their assessments. Compile and submit monthly time sheets and overtime documentation for all temporary staff. Conduct on-site inspections of completed tradesmen work to ensure compliance before final approval or payment processing. Prepare, format, and type maintenance-related documents and maintain organized filing systems for all departmental records. Generate and present periodic reports to support operational oversight.

Qualifications & Experience:

A Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) complemented by a City and Guilds Grade 1 Certificate, or an equivalent qualification in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a closely related discipline. A minimum of two (2) years of direct experience in a maintenance or administrative capacity is mandatory.

Required Skills & Competencies:

In-depth understanding of maintenance operations and industry best practices. Strong analytical abilities with a focus on problem resolution. Clear and concise communication skills, paired with sound decision-making capabilities. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining a proactive and independent approach.
