Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), the leading provider of housing and related services in Malawi, was established under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02). Our core mission involves constructing residential units, developing plots, and managing existing properties. Following legislative amendments in December 2016, MHC transitioned into a commercial entity, further enhancing our commitment to delivering affordable and quality housing solutions. We are currently seeking skilled and experienced professionals to fill critical roles within our organization. Candidates should demonstrate a blend of academic distinction, professional certifications, hands-on experience, and the specialized skills necessary to support our strategic goals.

Position: Maintenance Clerk

Location: Regional Offices (South and East)

Grade: HC 12

Reporting Line: Maintenance Supervisor / Regional Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Compile and process reports from tenants, initiating job cards to facilitate Tradesman interventions. Reconcile job cards and source materials for various unit requirements within the section. Procure materials requested by Tradesmen following their evaluations. Compile time sheets and overtime documentation for all temporary staff on a monthly basis. Conduct on-site inspections of completed work by Tradesmen prior to handover or payment authorization. Prepare and organize maintenance-related documents for typing and filing. Maintain organized filing systems for section records. Generate and submit routine progress reports as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with a City and Guilds Grade 1 Certificate, or a diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline.

Required Experience:

At least two years of relevant professional experience in a comparable role.

Core Competencies & Skills:

In-depth understanding of maintenance operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Clear and effective communication skills with sound decision-making ability. Ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
