Professional Land Survey and Mapping Specialist

Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), a leading provider of housing and related services in Malawi, was established under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02). With a mandate to construct residential units, develop land parcels, and maintain existing properties, MHC expanded its operational scope in December 2016 when the Act was amended to permit the Corporation to function as a commercial entity, reinforcing its commitment to delivering quality and affordable housing solutions. We are currently seeking exceptional professionals with distinguished academic credentials, relevant certifications, extensive hands-on experience, and the specialized skills necessary to advance our strategic goals. Position: Land Surveyor Location: Regional Office (North), Mzuzu Grade: HC 7 Reporting Line: Regional Manager (North) Core Responsibilities: – Oversee and execute cadastral survey computations. – Conduct comprehensive cadastral and topographic land surveys across the region for MHC and external clients. – Address land survey requests and resolve boundary disputes promptly. – Develop and manage budgets for the survey section. – Collaborate with the Estates Management Section to address encroachment issues on MHC land holdings. – Maintain and ensure the proper upkeep of survey equipment. – Prepare and submit regular progress reports on land survey activities within the region. – Assign tasks and evaluate staff performance. Minimum Qualifications & Professional Requirements: – Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying. – Mandatory registration with the Surveyors Institute of Malawi or an equivalent professional body. Professional Experience: – Minimum of two years of practical experience in land surveying. Key Competencies & Attributes: – In-depth expertise in various survey methods and operations. – Strong leadership, organizational, and coordination abilities. – Proficiency in computer applications. – Self-motivation, resilience, and the capacity to work extended hours in challenging conditions. – Ability to function effectively as part of a team.
