Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Regional Director overseeing the Strategic Operations Pillar, you are responsible for strengthening UNICEF’s governance, risk management and control processes in the Regional Office and Country Offices in the WCAR region. You are accountable for ensuring that risks are understood, governed, monitored, and integrated into decision-making, and that heads of offices understand they remain accountable to manage risk to safeguard and protect organizational assets (financial and non-financial) as per established standards, policies and procedures. Key functions,accountabilities and relatedduties/tasks:

  • Enhance Risk Management by embedding risk awareness into decision-making and workplaceculture
  • Effective and proactive risk governance to mitigate risks that may impede achievement of resultsfor children
  • Oversight on Regulatory and Compliance Risk
  • Support assurance activities to validate Risk Management effectiveness
  • Ensure effective capacity development partners, staff and non-staff

  • Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in risk management, auditing, economics, statistics, accounting, business administration, public administration and any other related fields.
  • Work Experience: At least 10 years of relevant work experience in risk management, enterprise risk management, governance, internal controls, compliance, audit, assurance, regulatory compliance, program risk management, social and environmental safeguards. and any other related fields.
  • Skills: Compliance, Internal Controls, Investigation, Quality Assurance, Programme Implementation, Lead a Team.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in French and English are required. Desirables:
  • Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or a local language (Wolof)
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA)
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
