The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) plays a vital role in procuring, warehousing, selling, and distributing high-quality, affordable, and approved medicines and medical supplies to public health facilities across Malawi. To strengthen its operations in Mzuzu, Lilongwe, and Blantyre, CMST is seeking dynamic and forward-thinking professionals to enhance its impact. The following position is now open: Pharmacist-in-Charge Job Title: Pharmacist-in-Charge Job Grade: MS4 Location: Lilongwe Reporting to: Branch Manager (MS3) Supervises: Pharmacist (MS5) Number of Positions: One (1) Position Purpose This role involves overseeing all pharmaceutical warehouse operations to ensure adherence to regulatory standards while maintaining efficiency in inbound and outbound logistics. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring full compliance of warehouse operations with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority Act, relevant regulations, and Good Warehousing and Distribution Practices.
  • Supervising warehouse activities to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintaining real-time accuracy of all inventory transactions within the ERP system.
  • Safeguarding and organizing documentation for receipts, customer orders, and shipments.
  • Coordinating with third-party logistics providers to guarantee cost-effective last-mile distribution.
  • Collaborating with the Finance Department to ensure precise customer invoicing.
  • Providing strategic guidance to management on stock status and movement trends.
  • Ensuring the upkeep, functionality, and safety of warehouse facilities, equipment, and material-handling processes.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for warehouse operations.
  • Identifying staff training needs and implementing targeted capacity-building initiatives.
  • Preparing work plans and budgets while managing the performance of subordinate staff. Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid registration with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA).
  • Postgraduate training in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in a high-volume pharmaceutical warehouse environment. Required Skills and Attributes
