Senior Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager

We seek applications from highly qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Safety Manager . Key Responsibilities Formulate, execute, and evaluate occupational health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational objectives. Perform comprehensive workplace inspections, conduct thorough risk assessments, and execute detailed safety audits to ensure compliance with established regulations and standards. Verify adherence to all relevant mining, occupational health, and safety statutes and regulations. Conduct thorough investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, then propose appropriate corrective measures to prevent recurrence. Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks and employee awareness programmes. Maintain accurate safety records and prepare periodic reports for management. Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities. Monitor the correct issuance and use of personal protective equipment. Promote a strong safety culture across all departments. Liaise with regulatory authorities and other relevant stakeholders. Qualifications and Experience Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Health, Mining Safety or a related field. At least Ten (10) years’ of relevant work experience . Sound knowledge of Zambian occupational health, safety and mining legislation. Experience in accident investigation, risk assessment and safety management systems. Strong leadership, communication, analytical and report-writing skills. Relevant professional safety certification will be an added advantage. Must be computer literate. Skills and Competencies Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively manage teams. Proficient in occupational health and safety legislation and applicable standards. Proficient in performing comprehensive risk assessments, conducting thorough workplace inspections, and executing detailed safety audits. Demonstrated proficiency in conducting thorough accident and incident investigations. Capable of recognizing potential hazards and devising robust corrective and preventive measures to mitigate risks effectively. Proficient in delivering clear and effective communication, conducting engaging presentations, and providing comprehensive safety training.
