Job Description SENIOR SAFETY OFFICER VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Luciana Mining Company is actively seeking a dedicated professional to fill the role of Senior Safety Officer within our comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety department. Your responsibilities will encompass, but not be limited to, the following: Provide support for coordinating and executing LMC’s HSE management system in alignment with internationally recognized standards while ensuring timely completion and cost efficiency. The role involves delivering guidance, assistance, and mentorship to both contractors and employees to effectively address and mitigate health and safety risks in the workplace. Perform comprehensive workplace safety audits and inspections throughout the facility to ensure compliance with established safety standards and regulations. Maintain and manage all safety-related documentation and records in accordance with established protocols. Monitor and track trends in site incidents, evaluate audit reports, and oversee the implementation of corrective measures. Conduct and engage in incident investigations, risk assessments, and other safety-related discussions to ensure a proactive approach to workplace safety. Provide leadership and direction for health and safety training initiatives and presentations within your designated operational area. Diligently detect emerging issues and develop corresponding solutions in a timely manner. Responsible for executing all tasks outlined in the Management Operating System (MOS) with precision, ensuring adherence to established quality standards and strict adherence to assigned deadlines. Develop, execute, and uphold safe operational protocols while fostering a strong culture of safety and health awareness. Ensure strict adherence to and promotion of the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy. To guarantee adherence to legal requirements, prevent incidents, and accomplish objectives in an eco-friendly way, it is essential to establish suitable facilities, implement robust procedures, and maintain a skilled workforce. Establish and monitor ongoing enhancement objectives for the function while evaluating and tracking progress toward their attainment. To qualify for this role, applicants must fulfill the following prerequisites: Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent is required. Earned a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), a credential that signifies comprehensive training in workplace hazard identification, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. A BOSH Certificate will be considered an additional qualification. A minimum of three years of post-qualification professional experience, including at least twelve months in a mining or industrial setting. Certified member in good standing of the Zambia Occupational Health and Safety Association (OHSA). Proficiency in clear and effective English communication is essential. Demonstrates strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Holds a valid Class B or C commercial driver’s license in good standing.
