This position involves creating Civil, Architectural, Structural (steel and concrete), and Mechanical drawings to support the construction, fabrication, maintenance, and modification of company infrastructure and engineering projects—both capital and routine. The role will be accountable to [Reporting Manager’s Title], ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and seamless communication of progress, challenges, and strategic updates. Senior Civil/Mechanical Drafter Key Accountabilities In collaboration with Design Engineers and Project Managers, perform initial site assessments to evaluate project and engineering requirements, thereby enabling the creation of precise working drawings. Interpret manufacturer-provided design and working drawings to facilitate the fabrication, construction, and installation of equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications by consulting CTI (Vendor Technical Information), manufacturers’ equipment operating manuals, and relevant technical standards. Develop schematic and preliminary design layouts for evaluation by project managers and engineers, ensuring adherence to international standards, such as those set by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and other relevant codes of practice. Develop three-dimensional perspectives or models utilizing appropriate computer-aided software and/or modeling techniques to facilitate clear comprehension of the proposed project or maintenance works among all stakeholders. Develop precise working drawings that provide all necessary details for project managers and engineers to accurately calculate project or maintenance costs through the use of computer-aided design software. Prepare construction drawings that contain comprehensive and unambiguous details, ensuring contractors can proceed with site works efficiently, thereby preventing delays or unforeseen additional costs due to incomplete or unclear information. “Develop and update As-built drawings to accurately document all maintenance activities and project implementations.” Collaborate closely with project managers and engineers to develop cost estimates for maintenance works and projects by supplying comprehensive materials specifications and detailed materials lists on relevant drawings, thereby enabling the accurate preparation of project and maintenance budgets. Perform on-site inspections to verify that contractors and site teams strictly comply with construction drawings, unless explicit design modifications have been authorized and approved by designated project team members. Continuously update drawings to reflect any new alterations or developments on-site by creating accurate As-built drawings that align with site modifications. Collaborate with contractors and site teams to interpret working drawings for maintenance and project requirements as needed. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to clarify and interpret survey layout drawings, ensuring alignment with company property boundaries, wayleaves, and all applicable local authority building regulations and by laws. Perform additional duties as directed by the supervisor from time to time. Execute assigned tasks promptly and within designated deadlines to prevent the need for additional overtime. All company assets within the designated section must be exclusively utilized for business-related activities, with strict adherence to prevent any misappropriation of resources, including materials, drawings, tools, and other implements. Collaborate closely with Senior Drafters and the Chief Drafter to ensure all work aligns with international standards, including BSI/BS and IEC specifications, while adhering to the company’s SHE policies. Collaborate closely with Senior Drafters and the Chief Drafter to deliver structured training and development programs for current employees, new hires, and vacation students, focusing on proficiency in AutoCAD software, traditional drawing boards, and advanced drawing office management technologies. Ensure participants progress through the drawing office with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the Company’s development objectives and competency standards. To collaborate effectively with the Senior Drafter and Chief Drafter, supported by the IT department, ensuring the drawings database remains secure and accurate at all times. This facilitates seamless extraction and access to drawings for both local and external customers as needed. For optimal performance in this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications: Grade 12 School certificate. A diploma in Civil, Architectural, or Mechanical Engineering or a technician certificate in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Fabrication Engineering, along with a minimum of five years of professional experience in Engineering Drafting. A Certificate in Design Drafting (CAD) in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering would be considered a valuable asset. Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling software, including AutoCAD and Archibald, is essential. We seek candidates with three to five years of professional experience in a Civil or Mechanical Design/Drawing Office setting. Highly proficient in various disciplines, including Basic Architectural, Building, Civil, and Mechanical Drafting. Seasoned professional with a proven track record in overseeing building and fabrication projects, ensuring rigorous supervision, meticulous inspection, and comprehensive certification processes through to commissioning. Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Refit, and other Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software applications. Proficient in converting design calculations into detailed, practical working drawings for reinforced concrete, steelwork, and masonry structures.
