The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) plays a pivotal role in procuring, warehousing, selling, and distributing high-quality, affordable, and approved medicines and medical supplies to public health facilities across Malawi. To reinforce its operations in Mzuzu, Lilongwe, and Blantyre, CMST is seeking dynamic and forward-thinking professionals. One such role is the Pharmacist-in-Charge, based in Lilongwe, reporting to the Branch Manager (MS3) and overseeing the Pharmacist (MS5). This position requires a highly skilled individual to ensure pharmaceutical excellence, regulatory adherence, and operational efficiency. The role involves providing strategic oversight of all pharmaceutical warehouse activities, including inbound and outbound logistics, while ensuring strict compliance with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority Act, relevant regulations, and best practices in warehousing and distribution. Key responsibilities include supervising warehouse processes to enhance productivity, maintaining real-time accuracy of inventory records in the ERP system, and securely managing documentation for receipts, orders, and shipments. The Pharmacist-in-Charge will also oversee third-party logistics providers to guarantee cost-effective last-mile distribution, collaborate with the Finance Department to ensure precise customer billing, and analyze stock trends to advise management on inventory management. Additionally, the role entails maintaining safe, efficient warehouse infrastructure and equipment, developing and implementing SOPs, identifying training needs, and fostering staff development. Budgeting, work planning, and performance management of subordinate staff are also critical duties. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution, possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent, and be registered with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA). Postgraduate qualifications in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field are advantageous. A minimum of five years’ progressive experience in a high-volume pharmaceutical warehouse is essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems, and strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
