The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change is seeking a motivated Analyst to deliver research, analytical, and operational support to embedded advisory teams working within Rwanda’s government institutions and the Country Director’s Office. This entry-level position offers broad exposure across key sectors, including trade, investment, tourism, public finance, and skills development, with assignments tailored to project and team requirements. No prior sector expertise is necessary; instead, the ideal candidate will possess strong foundational skills in research, data analysis, and coordination, coupled with a proactive mindset and the ability to rapidly develop sector-specific knowledge through hands-on experience. This role is designed for early-career professionals who are intellectually curious, methodical, and driven by tangible outcomes, with a keen interest in pursuing a career in government advisory or public sector delivery. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with advisors and senior leadership, contributing to evidence-based decision-making and impactful policy implementation. Key Responsibilities: – Conduct rigorous research and analysis—both quantitative and qualitative—to inform strategic decisions and project deliverables, including data collection, cleaning, and organization from government and external sources. – Perform trend analysis, benchmarking, and comparisons to identify insights and support project monitoring, developing tools such as trackers and models to measure progress. – Maintain quality control over data and analytical outputs to ensure precision and reliability. – Draft clear, concise briefing notes, concept notes, presentations, and other materials for government stakeholders and TBI leadership, distilling complex information into actionable insights. – Assist in preparing decision papers, workshop materials, and stakeholder-facing documents, ensuring alignment with project objectives. – Provide operational support by coordinating activities across workstreams, tracking deliverables, and managing logistics for meetings, workshops, and engagements. – Cultivate and sustain relationships with government counterparts and project stakeholders to facilitate smooth collaboration. – Contribute to periodic performance reporting, summarizing project outcomes, indicators, and progress for internal and external audiences. Candidate Requirements: – A university degree in Economics, Business, Public Policy, Law, Engineering, Social Sciences, or a related discipline. – Up to two years of relevant experience, with preference given to candidates with internships, research roles, or early-career positions in consulting, government, development, or the private sector. – Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a solid foundation in quantitative and qualitative research and policy analysis. – Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with the skill to produce high-quality written and visual

Expert Application Advice

Always tailor your CV to mirror the exact language used in the job posting. For example, if Tony Blair Institute for Global Change lists "Excel" as critical, ensure this phrase appears prominently in your experience summary. This shows you've carefully read their needs and are a direct match.

Positioning — Your cover letter must answer one question: why YOU for THIS specific role right NOW? Avoid generic templates — one sentence on what you specifically bring beats three generic paragraphs.

Software and standards — Specify your actual accounting tools and standards knowledge. Finance technical tests often cover reconciliation cases or variance analysis — practice these with real examples.

🎯 Make your application ATS-ready

ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) are the software recruiters use to automatically filter CVs before any human reads them. Our CV builder is specifically designed to pass these filters — and it takes under 3 minutes.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
