Safety and sustainability champion : Foster a culture of safety consciousness among drivers and logistics personnel. Champion sustainability efforts across transport operations by enhancing fuel efficiency, monitoring emissions, and integrating clean energy solutions. Drive increased adoption of digital truck inspection processes and systematically address and resolve identified gaps to enhance operational efficiency. Lead ongoing training sessions and interactive discussions with drivers and transporters to address safety-related topics.
Delivery and dispatch coordination : Efficiently manage the scheduling and organization of daily cement deliveries to customers, ensuring alignment with confirmed purchase orders and available transportation resources. Facilitate coordination with the packing facility to arrange and oversee truck loading schedules. Efficiently streamline truck turnaround procedures while maximizing backhaul opportunities to enhance operational productivity.
Order and payment processing : Process and verify customer orders and payment confirmations upon receipt. Ensure timely follow-ups with the finance team regarding payment bookings to facilitate the prompt release of deliveries.
Traffic and yard management : Ensure efficient coordination of truck movements and traffic flow both within and around the plant premises to prevent congestion and maintain smooth operations. Enforce adherence to established safety protocols and yard access procedures to maintain a secure and regulated environment. Ensure conducive operations environment for drivers.
Customer communication : Provide customers with timely, real-time updates regarding their delivery status. Address customer inquiries regarding dispatch details, required documentation, and projected delivery timelines with professionalism and accuracy. Leverage existing digital platforms to enhance customer service experiences and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Documentation and compliance : Handle export documentation for cross-border shipments. Process logistics permits while ensuring adherence to all applicable regulatory standards. Ensure precise electronic filing of delivery notes, transport records, and export documentation.
Port operations : Oversee the orchestration of port operations for both incoming and outgoing cargo shipments to ensure seamless logistical flow and adherence to schedule. Liaise with port authorities, customs officials, and shipping agents to facilitate seamless cargo operations and prevent incurring demurrage charges.
Contract and procurement coordination : Provide assistance to the procurement team in overseeing transportation agreements and evaluating the performance of service providers. Monitor contract key performance indicators (KPIs) and promptly escalate any instances of non-compliance to relevant stakeholders for resolution. Participate in regular supplier performance evaluations.
Supplier invoice management : Performs daily reconciliation of transporter invoices to ensure alignment with agreed-upon transport freight costs. Ensure prompt settlement of overdue payments, address discrepancies with transporters, and provide constructive feedback as needed. Promote the use of self-billing invoices.
Inbound logistics : Oversee the scheduling and execution of raw material loading and delivery operations to ensure timely and efficient transportation to production facilities. Procurement and Production teams collaborate to ensure stock levels remain optimally balanced. Maximize backhaul efficiency to significantly lower overall transport expenditures. Ensure efficient loading/offloading with no delays. Monitor shipments to ensure punctual and secure arrival at their destinations. Leverage digital solutions to bolster logistics transparency and operational oversight.
Other duties : Execute additional responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor at any time.

Minimum requirements (qualifications) : A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, or a comparable discipline is required.
Specific knowledge : Three years (or more) of hands-on experience in logistics coordination, with a preferred background in cement or bulk cargo operations. Strong competency in Microsoft Office applications and logistics software solutions, such as Tracking and Transportation Management Systems (TMS), is required. Proficiency in Tanzanian transport regulations and export procedures is essential.
