About the Role
The External Relations and Advocacy Advisor will facilitate the execution of MSI's External Relations and Advocacy strategy within the Chief Executive Office, collaborating closely with the fundraising and communications teams. This role plays a key part in advancing MSI's advocacy efforts, thought leadership initiatives, fundraising campaigns, partner engagement, communications strategies, and event planning to ensure MSI's influence on global policy and funding determinations is both impactful and strategic. Additionally, the position involves sharing detailed political and situational analysis, evidence, and data to position MSI as a proactive and valuable partner to governments, donors, and the broader sector. This position will play a key role in shaping and overseeing MSI's external presence across critical industry platforms, enhancing its visibility, credibility, and impact in international and regional forums while fostering robust connections with key sector peers and donor organizations. This responsibility will account for roughly 60% of the role's duties. This position encompasses a significant operational aspect, accounting for roughly 40% of the role, to ensure the seamless execution of the team's activities. Key duties involve overseeing reporting procedures, developing and administering budgets, initiating and monitoring purchase orders, arranging travel and logistical arrangements, assisting with event coordination, and collaborating with internal departments such as finance, operations, donor compliance, and IT.

Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and research, coupled with the capacity to distill intricate documents into clear, concise summaries. Aptitude for delivering comprehensive policy analysis and distilling intricate data into concise, actionable insights tailored to varied stakeholders. Exceptional proficiency in both written and oral communication. Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining productivity under tight deadlines or high-pressure situations. A collaborative professional who demonstrates strong initiative and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Individuals must possess expert-level proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint, as well as advanced skills in Canva. Highly desirable candidates will possess a solid understanding of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Fluency in French, desirable.
Qualifications and Experience
For this position, the following qualifications and experience are essential: Accomplished professional with a proven track record of collaborating with and supporting multifaceted priorities across diverse teams. We possess proven expertise in examining and integrating intricate documents. Experienced in serving as an external representative for an organization. Proven ability to establish and sustain operational support systems within an office setting. Professional Version: Proven expertise in administrative operations, specifically in budget management, procurement of purchase orders, and coordination of logistics for external events.
Formal Education/Qualification
Candidates need not possess specific formal educational credentials; relevant experience serves as an adequate qualification for this position.
Location
London, UK (with a requirement to work on-site for a minimum of two days per week) or any country where MSI operates its programs.
Full-time
A standard work schedule of 35 hours per week, structured from Monday through Friday, is required.

Permanent.
Salary
The compensation range for UK-based candidates spans from £34,200 to £42,750, while for applicants from other countries, the salary will be determined within the applicable national salary framework. Salary band: BG 7.
