Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), established under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02), stands as Malawi’s leading provider of housing and related services. Originally tasked with constructing homes, developing plots, and managing existing properties, the Corporation’s mandate was expanded in December 2016 through legislative amendments, enabling it to function as a commercial entity with a focus on delivering quality, affordable housing solutions. To advance its strategic goals, MHC is seeking accomplished professionals with the requisite qualifications, certifications, and hands-on experience.

Position: Maintenance Clerk Location: Regional Offices (South and East) Grade: HC 12 Reporting Line: Maintenance Supervisor / Regional Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Compile and process reports from tenants, initiating job cards for assigned tradesmen; reconcile job cards and requisition materials for unit operations; process material requisitions submitted by tradesmen following their assessments; prepare monthly timesheets and overtime documentation for temporary staff; conduct physical inspections of completed tradesmen work prior to approval or payment; draft and type maintenance-related documents; maintain accurate filing systems for section records; and generate and submit periodic reports as required.

Minimum Academic & Professional Qualifications:

Possession of an MSCE certificate along with a City and Guilds Grade 1 Certificate, or alternatively, a certificate in Business Administration, Human Resources, or another relevant discipline.

Required Work Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years in a related professional capacity.

Key Competencies & Skills:

In-depth understanding of maintenance operations; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; clear and persuasive communication skills; effective decision-making; and the capacity to work collaboratively or independently as needed.
