CNC Designer and Operator
Peoplelink Consultants Ltd is seeking a full-time CNC Designer and Operator.
Job Context
You will be responsible for the design and manufacture of high-precision wooden items, using CNC machines and modeling software.
Responsibilities
Create detailed 2D and 3D designs for innovative wooden toys and educational tools. Convert design concepts into CNC-ready programs and G-code files using modeling software. Set up, calibrate, program, and operate CNC machines to manufacture high-precision wooden components. Prototype new toy designs and refine them based on physical testing and feedback. Ensure all designs strictly comply with child safety standards, including smooth edges, appropriate dimensions, and no sharp corners. Read and interpret technical drawings to configure machine settings according to design plans. Maintain comprehensive design documentation and strict version control for all product lines. Optimize cutting paths and nesting programs to improve material utilization and minimize production waste. Inspect finished components to verify they meet precise dimensions and strict quality standards. Perform preventive and routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, calibration, and tool sharpening. Diagnose and resolve mechanical or programming errors as they arise to minimize production downtime. Follow all workshop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production environment. Ensure all final products perfectly match the aesthetic and finishing standards established by Afritoys.
Candidate Profile
Degree (Bachelor, HND, or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Wood Technology, or a related field. Professional certification in CNC machining or CAD/CAM programming is a distinct advantage. Proficiency in design and manufacturing software, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Aspire (Vectric), and Fusion 360. Strong technical understanding of CNC machining, with specific experience working with various wood materials. 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in both digital CNC design and physical machine operation. Previous experience in wood product manufacturing, with a preference for experience in toy or consumer product manufacturing.
Required Skills
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve machine and software issues independently.
