  Organisational context

The two Deputy Prosecutors, under the delegated authority of the Prosecutor, will manage the two Prosecution Pillars. The Deputy Prosecutors will be responsible for an equal division of situations and cases based on a Unified Team concept. The Case Manager will serve within one of the Unified Teams.

The Deputy Prosecutors oversee preliminary examinations, investigations, prosecutions, and when applicable, appeals proceedings; providing strategic advice and guidance to the Prosecutor on each situation and case under their responsibility.  This will include recommendations on prioritisation and effective use of resources

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Head of the Unified Team (HUT), the incumbent performs the following functions:

Administrative management of prosecution cases, including filing of Court documents, maintaining prosecution's Court files, preparing and finalising exhibits for display in Court, liaison with Court technicians and effective and efficient presentation of exhibits in Court;

Disclosure of exhibits to Defence and (Pre-) Trial Chambers, including tracking, collating and indexing of disclosure materials and maintaining disclosure logs;

Maintaining the case calendar;

Assistance to Trial Lawyers, including assisting in the identification and retrieval of information relevant to the case and maintaining appropriate electronic and physical systems for the organisation of information and evidence;

Performing other tasks as instructed by the Head of Unified Team, Senior Trial Lawyersor Trial Lawyers.

Essential Qualifications

Education:

Advanced university degree in law (criminal, international, humanitarian or international criminal), arts, social sciences or related, is required. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of work experience is accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:

A minimum of two years (or zero years with an advanced level university degree) of practical experience working in litigation support, case management and/or legal secretarial support and related areas, is required.

Experience with the management of electronic and physical evidence presentation and filing systems is highly desirable.

Advanced practical experience with litigation tools such as Ringtail, Relativity or CaseMap, as well as transcription software such as Transcend or LiveNote is useful. Experience with data warehousing systems or other advanced content management systems such as Records Manager and/or online collaborative platforms is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Exceptional analytical, planning and organisation skills;

High degree of initiative, flexibility and adaptability;

Ability to work in a non-discriminatory manner, with respect for diversity;

Professional and personal integrity.

Knowledge of Languages:

Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, English or French, is required. Working knowledge of the other is considered as a strong asset. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) would be considered an asset.

General Information -Candidates appointed to posts at a P-5 grade or in the Director category are subject to a maximum aggregate length of service of seven years.
