JOB OPPORTUNITY Position: Laundry Shop Manager & Cleaning Operations Supervisor Company: Kuwala Laundry and Cleaning Company Duty Station: Lilongwe, Malawi Reports To: Company Directors 1. JOB PURPOSE To oversee the daily operations of the laundry shop and supervise cleaning and housekeeping teams across the company’s client premises. The successful candidate will ensure efficient service delivery, proper staff management, customer satisfaction, maintenance of equipment and achievement of operational targets. 2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES A. Laundry Shop Management Oversee the day-to-day running of the laundry shop. Receive, record and issue customer laundry accurately. Ensure clothes and other laundry items are properly washed, dried, ironed, folded and packaged. Monitor laundry quality and ensure items are handled with care. Manage laundry detergents, cleaning supplies and other stock. Ensure laundry machines and equipment are properly maintained. Handle customer enquiries, complaints and service requests. Maintain accurate records of orders, payments and daily sales. Ensure the shop is clean, organised and presentable. B. Cleaning Operations Supervision Supervise cleaning staff deployed at company client premises. Conduct regular site visits to monitor staff attendance, performance and quality of work. Ensure cleaners follow agreed cleaning schedules and company standards. Conduct inspections and address any shortcomings identified. Coordinate staff replacements and ensure all assigned shifts are covered. Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are available at client sites. Maintain good working relationships with clients and promptly address service concerns. C. Staff Management and Administration Allocate duties and prepare staff work schedules. Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, discipline and productivity. Train and guide employees on proper cleaning, housekeeping and laundry procedures. Report staff performance issues and recommend appropriate action. Maintain staff attendance records and operational reports. Promote professionalism, teamwork and accountability among employees. D. Transport and Logistics Drive company vehicles when required for business operations. Coordinate transportation of laundry, cleaning supplies and staff where necessary. Conduct routine checks on assigned vehicles and report maintenance requirements. Ensure timely delivery and collection of laundry and cleaning materials. E. General Operations Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports. Monitor the use of company resources and minimise wastage. Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene standards. Report operational challenges and recommend improvements. Perform other duties reasonably assigned by management. 3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Applicants MUST meet the following requirements: Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE). Valid driving licence. Ability to drive confidently and safely. Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, laundry operations or hospitality services. Experience supervising staff or managing daily operations. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to organise work, manage time and solve operational problems. Honest, reliable, disciplined and able to work with minimal supervision. Good record-keeping and basic administrative skills. 4. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Previous experience in a laundry business, hotel, lodge, guest house or cleaning company. Experience supervising cleaning teams across multiple locations. Knowledge of laundry equipment, fabric care, detergents and cleaning chemicals. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. 5. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) The employee will be evaluated based on: Overall cleanliness and presentation of client premises. Customer satisfaction and complaint resolution. Quality and timely completion of laundry orders. Staff attendance, punctuality and productivity. Proper management of stock, equipment and company resources. Accurate operational records and reporting. Effective coordination of daily operations. 6. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES The ideal candidate must be: A hands-on and practical leader.
