• 2. Epidemiological situation of Ebola virus disease remains a concern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) with a high risk of spread in the sub-region. The recent confirmation of imported cases of Ebola virus disease in the provinces of Haut-Uélé, Bas-Uélé and Sud-Ubangi, bordering the République Central African Republic requires rapid preparedness capacity building in at-risk health districts.

Job overview

The assessment of the level of preparedness for the threat of EVD in CAR identified a need in several response pillars. In addition, CAR is facing multiple epidemics, including cholera, Mpox, Dengue and Measles epidemics in a context of complex humanitarian crisis. To this end, the WHO Country Office wishes to strengthen human resources to better support the Ministry of Health in preparing for and responding to these multiple public health emergencies, particularly in high-risk health districts where EVD cases are at risk. The health districts of BangassouMobaye-Zangba, Haut-Mbomou, Ouango-Gambo, Kouango-Grimari, Bangui 1, Bangui 2, Bangui 3, BimboBegoua and Mbaïki are at high risk of importing EVD. The list of these health districts may change depending on the evolution of the epidemic.

• 3. Background The Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Cluster is responsible for providing support to the country and coordinating international action on prevention, preparedness, detection, early response and recovery from outbreaks and emergencies.
• 4. Deliverable The incumbent of the position will perform the following tasks:

1. Strengthen the capacity of actors in the field on epidemiological surveillance and data management;
2. Design, collect, analyze and disseminate high-quality epidemiological data to: a. Describe the dynamics of the epidemic and; b. To develop/adapt the measures allowing its control.
3. Implement the system of investigation of suspected cases and alerts and contribute to epidemiological investigations in the field;
