Supervisor hme (M/F)

Supervisor HME (Heavy Mining Machinery) Job purpose: The HME Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair and availability of heavy mining equipment (HME) to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective operations. This position supervises a team of technicians and subcontractors and ensures that planned preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance activities are carried out effectively, while respecting safety, environmental and company standards.

The incumbent also contributes to the development of team skills through training, coaching and performance management in order to achieve world-class maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture in all maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with site policies, HSE procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Animate startup meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with manufacturers’ (OEM) recommendations and site standards.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and general overhaul of heavy mining equipment.
• Ensure that preventive and predictive maintenance programs are completed on schedule.
• Coordinate and prioritize corrective maintenance interventions to minimize equipment downtime, in collaboration with Production teams to set priorities.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability.
• Review work orders and ensure they are properly closed in the computer-aided maintenance management system (CMM/SAP).
• To supervise, train and develop maintenance technicians, mechanics, electricians and apprentices.
• Manage day-to-day staffing and ensure sufficient human resources.
• Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
• Foster a culture of responsibility, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Other information

• Oversee the maintenance activities of heavy mining machinery: mining dump trucks, hydraulic excavators, loaders, graders, bulldozers, drillers, watering tankers and other auxiliary equipment.
• Collaborate with Planning and Supply Chain teams to ensure spare parts and resources are available.
• Track maintenance costs, optimize resource utilization and participate in budgeting.
• Lead investigations related to equipment failures and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly maintenance reports.
• Analyze performance indicators (availability, MTBF, MTTR, compliance).

Candidate profile

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Heavy Equipment Engineering or Professional Qualification of Heavy Machinery Mechanic (Heavy Duty Fitter).

Experience

• Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in heavy mining equipment maintenance.
• At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a supervisory position.
• Experience on OEM equipment (Caterpillar, Komatsu, Liebherr, Hitachi, Sandvik, Epiroc).
• Mastery of CMMS/SAP systems.
