Location

Main functions The "Junior Conservation Biologist" is responsible for the overall and daily implementation of Ecological monitoring activities agreed in Lobeke National Park. In this regard, he works under the direct technical supervision of the Jengi-TNS Technical Advisor and, to a certain extent, the Program Manager for related activities. He is also responsible for all equipment of the project made available to it for the execution of activities in the field. He assists usually the technical advisor in the implementation of conservation activities in the park Lobeke and in the overall management of the site.

Responsibilities

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for the development and implementation of the Lobeke National Park (PNL) and its surrounding areas;
• Ensure the implementation of ongoing ecological monitoring activities in the National Park Lobeke and its peripheries, collecting and managing data in accordance with protocols relevant scientists;
• Contribute to the awareness and participation of local communities in conservation and project-related activities:
• Provide technical support to the Village Monitoring Committees (ASMO and COVILAB) for ecological monitoring in the community hunting area;
• Mobilize local populations to monitor the national park;
• Assist the Conservator and other MINFOF staff in management and analysis data and train/strengthen the capacity of forest rangers designated for these tasks;
• Provide technical assistance to logging and hunting dealers in sustainable management of forest and wildlife resources;
• Under the supervision of the "Technical Advisor", ensure the conformity of the project with the requirements in technical and financial reporting and monitoring/evaluation;
• Regularly produce concise and well-written field reports to ensure that the technical advisor and other WWF staff are well informed of the activities of the program.

Candidate profile

Required qualifications

Education / Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor's or engineering degree in one or more of the fields forestry and wildlife, zoology, environmental science, rural geography, or any other related specialization;

Experience

• Minimum of two (02) years of work experience in one or more of the areas: (1) management of forest and wildlife resources, (2) development rural, community and organizational.

• Good overview of the legal and institutional framework in the field of forest and wildlife resources in Cameroon;
• Proven knowledge of the use of GPS and GIS software, Cybertracker/SMART and related tools.
