Regional Security and Safety Advisor

Mission
The Regional Advisor on Security and Safety monitors, analyzes and reports on performance indicators related to risk management (security and safety) at the level of the Africa region. It maintains a contextual knowledge of all countries in the region and regularly visits all countries in the region, including within very short timeframes if necessary. It promotes and ensures the application of global frameworks, standards, processes and tools related to risk management (security and safety) in the Africa region. It ensures the implementation of risk prevention actions (safety and security) and provides methodological support in the management of critical incidents. It supports the various countries of intervention in developing and maintaining capacity in crisis management and supports country offices in all matters related to risk management (security and safety). He participates in governance bodies, including the Regional office managers' meeting and the Regional managers' meeting.

Safety and security
He/she supports managers in countries of intervention in the region to implement the risk management system, ensuring that security risks are identified, mitigated and managed. For each country, he/she reviews and analyzes safety plans, SOPs and contingency plans, and makes recommendations for improving risk management. He/she supports delegations in the implementation of security incident management (notification, management, capitalization...). He/she strengthens the capacities of teams to respond to issues related to risk management (security and safety) at regional level, trains delegation teams and supports the training of partners. He/she encourages and coordinates inter-country exchanges. He/she interacts regularly with counterparts from other regions and headquarters to improve and harmonize risk management in the region. He/she reports relevant information at headquarters level in a timely manner to contribute to overall risk management (safety and security). He/she ensures at the regional level the existence of the crisis management plan of the organization and regularly trains the persons concerned. Experience
Significant experience of at least five years in managing operational safety and security within an international humanitarian organization, with increasing responsibilities. Prior experience in Africa and a proven knowledge of regional and national dynamics are strongly desired. Experience in crisis management and the ability to train regional teams in this area are desired.
Languages
Mandatory written and oral languages: French and English. Appreciated languages: Arabic, national languages of the countries of intervention.
Knowledge of IT
Mastery of the Microsoft Office package.
