UNICEF has been working in Cameroon since 1975 to enable women and children to fully realize their development rights without restrictions, as provided for in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. UNICEF provides financial and technical support to Cameroon in seven areas to fully realize the rights of women and children. These areas include health, HIV/AIDS, water, sanitation and hygiene, nutrition, education, child protection and social inclusion. UNICEF focuses primarily on the most vulnerable and excluded children and families. The population of Cameroon is estimated at people in 2020 according to United Nations data. The population is young and generates high socio-economic demand. In rural areas, limited access to basic social services and the effects of climate change are leading to household impoverishment and severe deprivation for children. The task is immense but not insurmountable; it requires the energy of all stakeholders in Cameroon and beyond: women, men, young people and children, government, technical and financial partners, donors, civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians and communities. All are invited to participate in the struggle to meet the challenges ahead. Together, we will act for Cameroon, a country that sums up Africa’s challenges and hopes. Expert Application Advice

- •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
- •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
- •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
- •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
- •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
- •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
