Formation / DiplĂ´mes
Carnegie Mellon University, a prestigious private research institution with a global footprint, ranks among the world’s most distinguished centers of higher education. Renowned for its pioneering work in brain science, transformative performances, entrepreneurial ventures, data analytics, ambitious initiatives, experiential learning, and robotics, CMU doesn’t merely envision the future—it shapes it. If you are driven by a commitment to a community that empowers inquisitive minds to create meaningful change, your opportunity begins here. Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa), CMU’s dedicated campus in Kigali, Rwanda, launched in 2011, is advancing engineering, technology, research, and innovation across the continent through rigorous graduate education, applied research, and strategic collaborations. Drawing students from over 25 African nations and managing an expanding array of sponsored programs, research endeavors, and talent development initiatives, CMU-Africa is cultivating Africa’s next generation of technology leaders while accelerating the continent’s digital evolution. We are seeking a seasoned, analytical, and purpose-driven Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist to enhance CMU-Africa’s capacity to measure, interpret, communicate, and amplify its impact. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate across CMU-Africa’s academic, research, and sponsored programs, serving as a strategic ally to program leaders, faculty, staff, and partner institutions. Your responsibilities will include designing robust monitoring systems, evaluating outcomes, generating compelling evidence, and fostering a culture of continuous organizational learning. This position demands a dynamic blend of evaluation expertise, learning facilitation, capacity building, donor reporting, and strategic advisory support. The ideal candidate will not only collect and analyze data but also translate insights into tangible improvements, guide decision-making, uphold accountability, and amplify institutional influence. You will thrive in an environment where you lead learning dialogues, guide evaluation efforts, advise teams on measurement strategies, distill findings into practical recommendations, and engage stakeholders across diverse institutions and cultural landscapes.

Expert Application Advice
When tailoring your CV for Carnegie Mellon University, don't just list duties—show how you solved a problem that reflects les compétences demandées dans l'annonce. For mid-level roles, use a brief "Challenge-Action-Result" line to prove impact and stand out.
Positioning — Your cover letter must answer one question: why YOU for THIS specific role right NOW? Avoid generic templates — one sentence on what you specifically bring beats three generic paragraphs.
Field competencies — Detail your on-site experience: conditions managed, equipment mastered, safety standards applied. A portfolio of technical drawings/reports concretely proves your skills.

- •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
- •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
- •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
- •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
- •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
- •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
