The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) oversees the procurement, warehousing, sales, and distribution of high-quality, affordable, and approved medicines and medical supplies to public health facilities across Malawi. To strengthen operations in its Mzuzu, Lilongwe, and Blantyre branches, CMST is recruiting visionary professionals. One such role is the Pharmacist-in-Charge (Job Grade: MS4), based in Lilongwe, reporting to the Branch Manager (MS3) and overseeing the Pharmacist (MS5). This position ensures pharmaceutical operations in the warehouse—including inbound and outbound logistics—meet regulatory and operational standards. Key responsibilities involve enforcing compliance with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority Act, Good Warehousing and Distribution Practices, and maintaining real-time inventory accuracy in the ERP system. The role also includes supervising warehouse activities, securing documentation for receipts, orders, and shipments, coordinating third-party logistics for cost-effective last-mile distribution, and collaborating with the Finance Department for precise invoicing. Additionally, the incumbent will analyze stock trends, optimize warehouse facilities and equipment, develop and implement SOPs, identify training needs, and prepare budgets while managing subordinate performance. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution, possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education (or equivalent), and be registered with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA). A postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is advantageous. Five years of progressive experience in a pharmaceutical warehouse setting is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
