We are seeking a skilled Mineral Processing Laboratory Technician to support our operational and analytical needs. In this role, you will conduct precise testing, analyze mineral samples, and ensure compliance with industry standards. The position requires a strong foundation in laboratory techniques, including sample preparation, data collection, and equipment calibration. Proficiency in relevant software, such as data analysis tools and spreadsheet applications, is essential. Additionally, you will maintain meticulous records, troubleshoot equipment issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processing workflows. A background in mineralogy, geology, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in laboratory settings, is preferred. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and adherence to safety protocols are critical for success in this position. Haggai Mining (U) Ltd (WGG) is actively seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position with Mine Engineer at its operations in Duende, Uganda. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mine Surveying, or a closely related field, and must demonstrate at least five years of hands-on experience in mining engineering, preferably within gold mining operations. Proficiency in mine planning, geotechnical engineering, and risk assessment is essential, along with a thorough understanding of mining software and regulatory compliance standards. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing mining activities, ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining safety protocols, and contributing to sustainable mining practices. Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills are critical for this role. Requires proficiency in operating heavy machinery, adhering to strict safety protocols, and maintaining equipment to ensure optimal performance. Exhibits strong problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and minimize downtime. Compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable mining practices is essential. Collaborates with team members to ensure safe, productive, and efficient mining operations while meeting production targets. Background Haggai Mining (U) Ltd (“EGG”), Uganda’s pioneering fully automated large-scale gold mining operation, is situated in USIA. The company manages a 5,000-tonne-per-day concentrator, a 350-tonne-per-day kyanization facility, a fully automated underground mine, and a gold smelting and refining workshop. In response to evolving production demands, WGG is currently seeking applications from highly qualified professionals for the following critical technical roles. Job Summary Conducts mineral processing tests to generate data that facilitates process optimization. Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of tasks to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Responsible for delegating responsibilities, monitoring progress, and providing guidance to team members as needed. Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures. Serve as a liaison between departments to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and internal guidelines throughout all operational activities. Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to optimize workflows and resource utilization. Perform flotation, magnetic separation, and gravity separation tests to evaluate mineral processing techniques and extract valuable insights from sample materials. Prepare samples thoroughly and consistently according to established protocols to ensure accuracy and reliability in subsequent analyses. Oversee the formulation and application of reagent protocols to ensure optimal laboratory performance and consistency in experimental outcomes. Collects and evaluates test data to identify trends, anomalies, or performance indicators, ensuring accuracy and reliability in findings. Provide assistance to mineral processing engineers engaged in experimental research initiatives. Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality and accuracy, following established protocols and manufacturer guidelines. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration, alongside at least three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in project management software, including Microsoft Project or Asana, is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards is required, and candidates should demonstrate excellent communication abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams. A degree or diploma in mineral processing or chemistry, or an equivalent qualification, is required. With a minimum of one year and up to three years of hands-on experience in flotation, magnetic, or gravity separation testing methodologies. Proficient in reagent protocols and formulations, with a strong understanding of their applications and interactions in experimental settings. Skilled in operating laboratory-scale crushing, grinding, and flotation equipment. Maintains a high level of awareness regarding chemical safety protocols and procedures.
