Role Purpose This position plays a key role in executing moderately complex projects funded by the British Council or other clients, overseeing their end-to-end delivery. Responsibilities include managing project or contract plans, engaging with stakeholders—both internal and external—and ensuring compliance with reporting and regulatory standards. Role Accountabilities The role focuses on driving project and program success through strategic stakeholder engagement, robust relationship-building, and rigorous project governance. Key duties involve maintaining transparent communication with stakeholders, overseeing supplier and contractor management, ensuring contractual and financial compliance, and leading small teams to achieve project objectives. Additionally, the position requires cultivating strong internal networks, fostering collaboration, and contributing to the organization’s strategic objectives through sector-specific expertise. A core aspect of this role encompasses significant commercial, financial, and project management responsibilities, including adherence to financial policies, financial planning and reporting, expenditure monitoring, and rectifying discrepancies. The individual will also oversee project planning, procurement, contracting, compliance tracking, risk identification and mitigation, data management, and monitoring and evaluation activities to align with organizational and funder requirements. Leveraging deep local knowledge of education or state systems, the role contributes to high-quality program design and delivery, shares research and best practices, maintains updated partner and stakeholder intelligence, and supports strategic development initiatives. A strong dedication to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is essential, requiring a commitment to promoting an inclusive and anti-racist culture, supporting employee wellbeing, addressing personal biases, and embedding EDI principles into daily operations and decision-making. The role reports directly to the Head of English & School Education and includes line management responsibilities for a Project Officer. Essential Requirements – Bachelor’s degree (mandatory). – Proven experience in end-to-end project management and familiarity with the project lifecycle. – Strong track record in managing external stakeholders. – Proficiency in applying technology to project delivery. – Solid understanding and hands-on experience in monitoring and evaluation
