Job description: Overall Job Purpose Here’s the professional paragraph while preserving all original facts, requirements, and responsibilities: Version: Serving as an integral part of the process team, the Junior Metallurgist will contribute to the continuous monitoring and reporting of all plant performance metrics. The role involves delivering technical and operational guidance to the Operations Team, ensuring metallurgical parameters and control strategies within the process plant align with design specifications. Primary focus areas include upholding safety and environmental standards, optimizing productivity and quality, as well as maintaining cost efficiency. Provides technical assistance to metallurgists and plant operations personnel by gathering and documenting plant data and measurements. Develop and execute innovative solutions to consistently surpass plant KPI targets in safety performance, milling rates, throughput, recovery rates, concentrate grade, operational efficiency, and cost management. Provide assistance with data entry tasks and ensure the timely preparation and submission of metallurgy reports, encompassing daily, weekly, and monthly formats. Provide support in the training and skill development of metallurgical laboratory technicians and processing plant personnel, ensuring proficiency in daily operations and during survey campaigns aimed at evaluating plant performance. Specific Job Responsibility Deliver comprehensive technical support to enhance plant operations, ensuring efficient and uninterrupted functionality. Gather data using historians and sampling techniques from control systems to facilitate ad-hoc decision-making. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute plant and/or laboratory testing initiatives designed to enhance the efficiency and performance of both front-end and back-end production processes. Perform circuit surveys under the direction of the metallurgist to enhance comprehension and regulation of plant operations. Compile and present test results to the Metallurgists for additional evaluation and subsequent execution. Evaluate potential areas for enhancement and spearhead the execution of corresponding improvements. Act as a liaison between metallurgists and metallurgical technicians to facilitate clear communication and collaboration. Job Specific Competencies A thorough knowledge of metallurgical principles, along with the ability to implement process improvement initiatives and control strategies, is required. Proficient in analyzing processes to pinpoint inefficiencies, constraints, and areas requiring metallurgical testing. Demonstrates a strong aptitude for performing testing procedures and instructing technical personnel. Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, adept at compiling and analyzing data to deliver precise operational performance reports efficiently to stakeholders at all levels. Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
