BACKGROUND The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIG) GmbH, a German government-owned enterprise specializing in technical cooperation, has been actively engaged in Uganda since 1964. Its primary mission is to advance sustainable development initiatives on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Energizing Development (Ended) represents a dynamic global multi-donor initiative active across more than 20 nations. Supported by the governments of Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland, the program operates in Uganda under the management of GIG, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMO). Its core objective is to enhance access to modern energy solutions for households, social institutions, and MSMEs by fostering market growth in solar PV systems, improved cookstoves (ICS), and advanced-tier cooking technologies. Ended Uganda, within its Productive Use of Energy (DUE) portfolio, has facilitated the growth of markets for technologies like solar irrigation, solar refrigeration, and other enterprise-level solar PV solutions. Now, the program is broadening its assistance to include underdeveloped solar-powered word-processing technologies, such as solar milling and hulling. To validate their technical and commercial feasibility, Ended will set up demonstration sites at carefully chosen enterprises throughout Uganda. We cordially extend an invitation to qualified vendors to submit bids for the upcoming project. Interested parties are encouraged to review the detailed specifications and requirements outlined in the request for proposal. Vendors must comply with all submission guidelines and deadlines to ensure consideration. The selection process will evaluate technical expertise, pricing competitiveness, and adherence to project objectives. Successful bidders will be notified promptly and provided with further instructions for contract execution. GIG Uganda, operating under the Ended program, is seeking proposals from qualified and eligible companies to deliver, install, commission, conduct user training, and offer after-sales support for solar-powered milling and hulling systems. These systems will be installed at designated enterprises in Jinja, Male, Begird, and Lira as part of demonstration initiatives.
