The incumbent will oversee compliance with international trade regulations, coordinate logistics, and facilitate seamless cross-border transactions. Key responsibilities include processing documentation, liaising with customs authorities, and ensuring adherence to trade policies. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in trade compliance software, and prior experience in international logistics or supply chain management. Familiarity with Southern African trade agreements and regulatory frameworks is essential. We are seeking an experienced professional to enhance our Supply Chain team. As a Future Shaper, you will serve as a pivotal contributor to customs compliance, trade governance, and operational excellence throughout our Africa South region. This role reports to the Manager – Supply Chain and is based at the Rica South Africa Office, providing support to operations across the region. Professional countries of operation include South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, and Tanzania. As a regional authority on customs and trade compliance, your primary responsibility will be to uphold strict adherence to all import and export activities in line with relevant customs regulations, trade mandates, and corporate governance policies. You will be tasked with supervising customs compliance procedures, facilitating audit preparedness, evaluating the performance of customs brokers, and offering expert counsel on trade laws, tariff classifications, permits, and customs documentation. In collaboration with Supply Chain, Tax, Finance, regulatory bodies, customs authorities, and external partners, your role will involve identifying and mitigating compliance risks, reinforcing governance frameworks, and facilitating the seamless cross-border transit of goods. A candidate with a robust background in customs compliance and proven operational experience in multinational manufacturing, mining, chemicals, logistics, or other strictly regulated industries would be an ideal fit for this position. What you will be doing Ensure customs compliance is maintained, assured, and audit-ready for all import and export operations throughout the Africa North region. Perform thorough post-clearance and pre-clearance reviews to verify the accuracy of customs declarations, ensure full compliance with relevant regulations, and maintain the integrity of all associated documentation. Oversee the performance of customs brokers, pinpoint compliance deficiencies, and implement corrective and preventive measures to ensure adherence to regulations. Craft and sustain customs compliance reports, dashboards, and analytical insights to enhance strategic decision-making processes. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, customs authorities, and regulatory bodies to uphold trade governance excellence and ensure full permit compliance. What you will bring Seeking candidates with a degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Commerce, Law, Finance, or a comparable field. A minimum of five years of professional experience in customs compliance, international trade, or import/export operations is required. Proven expertise in the management of customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other third-party logistics providers is required. Experienced in performing customs audits, ensuring compliance reviews, and conducting post-clearance evaluations. Proficient in customs valuation, tariff classification, rules of origin, customs documentation, and permit management.
