With a diverse student body representing over 25 African nations and an expanding array of sponsored programs, research endeavors, and talent development initiatives, CMU-Africa is seeking a seasoned and analytical Data and Analytics Specialist to enhance its data infrastructure and facilitate evidence-based decision-making across academic, research, and sponsored initiatives. This role will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining data systems, reporting frameworks, analytical tools, and business intelligence solutions that empower CMU-Africa and its partners to monitor performance, track outcomes, detect trends, and make informed decisions. By collaborating closely with institutional leaders, program teams, partner institutions, and the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist, the ideal candidate will convert intricate datasets into actionable insights that bolster institutional effectiveness, program success, accountability, and strategic planning. This position presents a distinctive opportunity to influence data and analytics methodologies across a dynamic network of leading African universities and innovation ecosystems. Key Responsibilities: Data Architecture and Systems: Collaborate with CMU’s Institutional Research and Analysis teams to develop and refine data architectures, systems, and workflows that facilitate the efficient collection, storage, integration, analysis, and reporting of institutional and programmatic data. Design and maintain scalable data pipelines, databases, reporting mechanisms, and analytical environments that consolidate information from diverse programs, partners, and platforms. Champion data governance principles, quality protocols, documentation standards, and interoperability across systems and institutions. Identify avenues to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability through automation, process optimization, and technological adoption.
