Seeking a highly skilled Grants Financial Specialist II to support Africa-based initiatives, offering the flexibility of remote work arrangements under a one-year fixed-term contract. Compassion International is currently recruiting for the position of Grants Financial Specialist II, tasked with facilitating the acquisition and financial oversight of U.S. Government grants for donor-funded initiatives throughout Africa. Professionals interested in this opportunity must maintain residency within one of the following countries: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, or Zambia. Work Remote-eligible candidates from specified countries are invited to apply, with the expectation of occasional business travel, limited to a maximum of 10% of total work time. A one-year fixed-term contract position is available, with the potential for extension upon successful completion of the initial term. What You’ll Do Prepare comprehensive budgets and accompanying justifications or narratives tailored to U.S. Government grant applications and proposals submitted to institutional donors. Oversee financial stewardship throughout the entire grant lifecycle, spanning from the initial proposal development phase to the final grant close out stage. Develop financial statements that align with donor requirements and perform variance analysis to compare actual expenditures against the approved budget. Monitor expenditures, forecasts, and financial performance. Facilitate donor and procurement audits, encompassing Single Audits. Enhance financial controls and verify adherence to donor regulations. Collaborate closely with finance, program, legal, compliance, and field teams spanning various international locations. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, Business, or a related field. Seeking a candidate with a minimum of three to five years of hands-on experience in grants finance, donor compliance, or financial management. Proficiency in managing grants funded by donors is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in nongovernmental organizations or international development contexts. Proven expertise in crafting budgets and budget narratives specifically for U.S. Government grant applications. Demonstrates a robust understanding of 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) and brings practical experience collaborating with the United Nations and other institutional donors. Skilled in providing assistance or oversight for Single Audits related to U.S. Government-funded programs. Proven expertise in budgeting, financial forecasting, comprehensive financial reporting, and advanced analytical capabilities is required. Strong collaboration skills and a team-player mindset.
