Job description: P urpose of the role: The incumbent will support the Mining Superintendent by overseeing a cross-functional shift crew tasked with executing projects, maintenance, operational duties, and construction or relocation activities within the dewatering section. This encompasses the management of pit dewatering pumps, dam pontoon pumps, and the flocculation/coagulation area, among other responsibilities. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure full adherence to all statutory compliance and HSE regulations, with immediate reporting of any incidents. To guarantee that all maintenance, construction, and monitoring activities are executed in a secure and effective manner, thereby ensuring optimal reliability and operational uptime. He is responsible for overseeing the operation of all mining infrastructure equipment, ensuring dewatering processes function smoothly, efficiently, and effectively. Perform equipment isolation as necessary to facilitate safe maintenance procedures, strictly adhering to supervisory directives and regulatory compliance. Uphold an exceptional level of cleanliness and order throughout all designated areas. Ensure timely maintenance activities and compliance with FEMA water quality standards, while monitoring water buffer levels and adhering to HSE protocols. Facilitate precise, timely, and well-documented shift transitions by reporting key performance indicators, completed tasks, equipment condition, and priority focus areas. Achieving daily work group objectives in strict adherence to established policies and procedures. With a strong focus on results, this role involves effectively prioritizing tasks, meticulously tracking the progress of assignments, and maintaining unwavering accountability for outcomes. Responsible for organizing and facilitating the initial layout of tasks for upcoming projects. To maintain optimal plant availability at all times. Demonstrated proficiency in collaborating across multiple departments to minimize interruptions in plant operations. Proactively identify potential safety hazards, promptly address them when feasible, or escalate unresolved issues to a supervisor for further action. Ensure strict compliance with and enforcement of all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Safety hazard reports must be reviewed, and any identified issues should either be addressed directly or promptly escalated to the Supervisor for resolution. Daily attendance at safety meetings and toolbox talks is mandatory. Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor. Qualifications & Experience Full Grade 12 certificate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field is required. A degree qualification in a relevant discipline would be considered an additional asset. Prospective candidates must be affiliated with the Engineering Institutions of Ireland (LIZ) and maintain valid registration with the Engineering Registration Board (ERA). A minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory role is required. Professional experience in mine dewatering operations or an analogous industrial setting is required. Job Specific Competencies Demonstrated expertise in the design, operation, and maintenance of pumping and piping systems is essential. Environmental compliance and water quality principles must be thoroughly understood. A solid understanding of water drainage systems is essential. Maintains a strong dedication to adhering to safe work practices and prioritizes safety in all tasks.
