Ithunn Centre, a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) in Zambia, was founded in 2000 with a mission to deliver essential care, safeguard the rights, and create developmental opportunities for vulnerable children and young individuals. The Ithunn Centre, situated in the Balance area of Lusaka West, accommodates around 40 vulnerable children and youths, predominantly rescued from the streets of Lusaka. Nestled on a sprawling farm that blends cultivated land with indigenous trees, the Centre fosters a tranquil, family-like atmosphere, providing an ideal setting for the growth, development, and success of the children and young people in its care. Ithunn Centre is actively seeking a qualified, highly motivated, and experienced professional to join our team in the role of Accountant & Administration Officer . Position Details: The Accountant & Administration Officer will oversee the Centre’s financial activities and administrative processes, ensuring resources are managed efficiently, transparently, and responsibly to advance the Centre’s mission. Key Responsibilities Ensure the precision and integrity of accounting records and financial documentation. Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as management reports, in accordance with established accounting standards and organizational requirements. Responsibilities include overseeing cash flow management, conducting bank reconciliations, administering petty cash, handling payroll processing, and managing accounts payable and receivable. Develop and oversee annual budget plans, ensuring alignment with approved financial allocations. Track and analyze expenditures to maintain fiscal responsibility and adherence to budgetary constraints. Guarantee adherence to all applicable statutory and regulatory mandates, with particular emphasis on fulfilling tax-related obligations. Engage in collaborative communication with external auditors, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and relevant stakeholders to facilitate information exchange and ensure compliance. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of fixed assets and inventory in the designated registers. Ensure procurement activities are managed efficiently while delivering optimal value for money. Oversee all aspects of office administration, including the maintenance of filing systems and record-keeping processes. Provide assistance with donor financial reporting and management of grants, as required. Enhance and establish robust internal financial controls and administrative protocols to ensure compliance and operational efficiency. Handle any additional responsibilities or tasks as directed by the Centre Manager. Qualifications and Experience Applicants need to fulfill the following essential criteria: A Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field would be considered a distinct advantage. Must be a Professional Rewriting: Holds active membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (RICA). Holding a current and valid membership certificate is essential. Proficient in financial reporting, budgeting, accounting principles, and internal controls, with a strong understanding of their applications.
