Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), a leading provider of housing and related services in Malawi, was established under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02). Our core responsibilities include constructing residential units, developing land parcels, and preserving existing properties. Following the December 2016 amendment to the Act, MHC transitioned into a commercial entity, further strengthening our commitment to delivering quality and accessible housing solutions. We are currently seeking highly skilled and experienced professionals to fill critical roles within our organization. Candidates must demonstrate a blend of academic distinction, professional credentials, hands-on experience, and the specialized skills necessary to support our strategic goals.

Position: Maintenance Clerk Location: Regional Offices (South and East) Grade: HC 12 Reporting Line: Maintenance Supervisor / Regional Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile and process tenant reports, initiating job cards for tradesmen as required.
  • Reconcile job cards and requisition materials for various units within the section.
  • Process material requisitions submitted by tradesmen after their evaluations.
  • Prepare monthly timesheets and overtime forms for all temporary staff.
  • Conduct physical inspections of completed tradesmen work prior to handover for approval or payment.
  • Prepare and type maintenance documentation.
  • Organize and file section documents.
  • Generate and submit routine reports as scheduled.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with a City and Guilds Grade 1 Certificate, or a diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: At least two years of relevant professional experience.

Desired Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of maintenance operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, coupled with decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take initiative.
