Professional Land Measurement and Mapping Specialist

Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), founded under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02), stands as the leading provider of housing and related services in Malawi. Our core responsibilities include constructing residential units, developing land parcels, and maintaining existing properties. Following an amendment to the Act in December 2016, which enabled the Corporation to function as a commercial entity, we now expand our mission to deliver quality and affordable housing solutions. We are currently seeking skilled and experienced professionals to fill critical roles within our organization. Candidates should demonstrate a blend of academic distinction, relevant professional certifications, hands-on experience, and the specialized skills necessary to advance our strategic goals. Position: Land Surveyor Location: Regional Office (North), Mzuzu Grade: HC 7 Reports to: Regional Manager (North) Key Responsibilities: – Oversee computations for cadastral surveys. – Execute comprehensive land surveys (cadastral and topographic) for MHC and external clients across the region. – Address land survey requests and resolve boundary disputes promptly. – Develop plans and allocate budgets for the survey section. – Collaborate with the Estates Management Section to address encroachment issues on MHC land holdings. – Maintain and manage survey equipment. – Submit timely progress reports on regional land survey activities. – Assign tasks and evaluate staff performance. Minimum Qualifications & Requirements: – Bachelor of Science Degree in Land Surveying. – Mandatory registration with the Surveyors Institute of Malawi or an equivalent recognized professional body. Professional Experience: – A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in land surveying. Core Competencies & Attributes: – In-depth expertise in all survey methodologies and operations. – Strong leadership, organizational, and coordination capabilities. – Proficiency in computer applications. – Self-motivated with resilience and the capacity to work extended hours in challenging conditions. – Ability to function effectively as part of a team.
