Job Context
The Company Lawyer is responsible for providing legal advice and protecting the company's interests by ensuring compliance with applicable laws, managing contracts, recovering outstanding debts, handling legal disputes, and minimizing legal risks. This role will play a key part in strengthening the company's debt recovery processes and supporting overall business operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Debt Recovery and Credit Management
Lead the debt recovery process for overdue customer accounts.
Issue demand letters and negotiate payment schedules with debtors.
Advise management on legal action against defaulting customers when necessary.
Represent the company in recovery proceedings before courts or other legal bodies.
Work closely with the Finance and Sales departments to monitor overdue accounts and recommend recovery strategies.
Develop and improve debt recovery policies and procedures.
Ensure all credit agreements are legally enforceable.2. Legal Advice
Provide legal advice to management on company operations and strategic decisions.
Interpret laws and regulations affecting the poultry feed manufacturing and distribution sector.
Advise management on legal risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.3. Contract Management
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, distributors, transporters, customers, and service providers.
Ensure contracts adequately protect the company's interests.
Maintain an organized record of all legal agreements.4. Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Represent the company or coordinate with external lawyers in court proceedings.
Manage employment-related disputes, commercial disputes, and customer claims.
Seek cost-effective dispute resolution through negotiation, mediation, or arbitration where appropriate.5. Regulatory Compliance
Ensure the company complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
Monitor legislative changes that may affect the company's operations.
