General Manager
As part of our continued growth and commitment to delivering value to our customers and stakeholders, we are seeking to appoint a General Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for the company. In line with our internal talent development approach, we are pleased to offer qualified employees of the company and the wider Group the first opportunity to express interest in this position. The role will be based in Accra and requires a highly experienced professional with strong leadership abilities, critical thinking skills, a solid understanding of the food processing or manufacturing industry, and a proactive approach to management. Interested candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in food processing or manufacturing, with a demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive operational performance.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic oversight of all company activities, including sales and marketing. Create a performance matrix for all employees. Lead and coordinate the activities of the production function at the plant. Be responsible for participation in and practice of continuous pursuit of excellence through lean manufacturing/six sigma. Validate implemented manufacturing process improvements to ensure desired results and sustainability. Establish and implement improvements for cost reduction, quality assurance, and production in general. Oversee raw material procurement. Lead and assist developmental or experimental production activities. Organize and coordinate employee participation in production problem-solving using problem-solving tools and skills. Ensure plant administration and supervision and guarantee preventive maintenance. Establish and implement predictive and corrective maintenance practices related to production equipment. Perform administrative activities necessary for effective company management, including budget management, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organizational goals and objectives, planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring work performed within the company. Organize safety meetings with plant employees.
Qualifications / Key Skills
Lean manufacturing/Kaizen/Theory of Constraints concepts. Material time management. Food safety standards are desirable. Ability to multitask. Must have production planning, control, and instrumentation skills. Problem-solving ability. Must have excellent negotiation skills. Results-oriented with a focus on product quality and customer satisfaction. Must have strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
