Credit Officer

VITALITY HEALTH INSURANCE is recruiting a Credit Officer for its team based in the Accra & Tema region, Ghana. Full-time position, Banking, Finance & Insurance sector, with a negotiable salary between GHS 4,200 and 4,800.

Job Context

A reputable microfinance company seeks to recruit a qualified, competent, experienced, hardworking, dedicated, and honest individual for immediate hire as a Credit Officer. The ideal candidate must possess strong expertise in loan control and have a proven track record in loan appraisal, disbursement, recovery, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

Duties include:

  • Actively market and promote all loan products and services of the company.

  • Prospect and acquire new credit clients while maintaining relationships with existing clients.

  • Participate in loan appraisal, approval, disbursement, and recovery.

  • Conduct credit assessments, financial analysis, and recommend credit applications for approval.

  • Perform all necessary checks to support credit applications.

  • Ensure adequate collateral and securitization of all approved credit facilities.

  • Develop practical repayment plans and provide strategic advice to borrowers as needed.

  • Achieve assigned disbursement and portfolio growth targets.

  • Ensure timely recovery of loans in assigned portfolios.

  • Prepare and submit accurate weekly and monthly performance reports to management.

  • Analyze competitor activities and market trends, and contribute to the development of innovative loan products and services.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications and core skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience, including at least one (1) year in credit management.

  • Demonstrable expertise in loan control, including portfolio growth, monitoring, recovery, and risk management.

  • Excellent marketing and sales skills, with the ability to consistently find quality borrowers and develop a sustainable loan portfolio.

  • Knowledge of commercial and personal loans, credit analysis, loan structuring, collateral, recovery processes, and applicable legal procedures.

  • Practical knowledge of banking systems and at least one banking software application.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Results-oriented with the ability to meet and exceed assigned targets.

  • Practical knowledge of the Bank of Ghana collateral registry platform will be an added advantage.

  • Previous experience as a credit analyst will be an added advantage.
