: / In its current form, i.e. by combining Employment and Vocational Training, this ministerial department was created in 2004. Previously, its employment division was under the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Welfare and that of Vocational Training, the ministry in charge of education. Employment, Work and Social Security Employment, Work and Social Security Technical Education and Vocational Training Education, Culture and Vocational Training The Minister of Employment and Vocational Training is responsible for the development and implementation of the Government's policy on employment, vocational training and integration. As such, it is responsible for: – The development of employment and vocational training policy; – Studies on the evolution of employment and labour market; – Studies on the evolution of job qualifications; – Promotion of employment; – The definition of training and professional integration programs in conjunction with the Administrations and Agencies concerned; – The definition of standards for the organisation of apprenticeship and vocational qualification systems and the control of their application; – Design and organization of short-cycle training activities; – Orientation and placement of the workforce; – Organization and monitoring of the professional integration of trained young people; – The organization of retraining or requalification activities for working workers and those who have lost their jobs; – Monitoring the adequacy of job training; – Relations with enterprises and professional organizations in liaison with the relevant sectoral ministerial departments; – Monitoring and control of vocational training structures in liaison with the relevant ministerial departments. It monitors the activities of intervention agencies in the field of job development.
