Company Description EVPulsar is developing the charging infrastructure needed to support the rapid growth of electric mobility in East Africa. The company focuses on creating accessible, reliable charging facilities that allow electric vehicle users to travel smoothly across diverse routes. By enabling dependable charging, EVPulsar helps remove barriers to EV adoption and supports sustainable transport in the region. Team members contribute directly to building critical energy and transport infrastructure with real impact on local communities. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Legal Counsel role based in Kigali City, Rwanda. The Legal Counsel will provide day-to-day legal support across the organization, including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts with partners, suppliers, and customers. The role will involve preparing and maintaining legal documents, advising on regulatory compliance, and identifying and mitigating legal risks related to energy, infrastructure, and commercial activities. The Legal Counsel will respond to legal issues as they arise, coordinate with external counsel when needed, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure business decisions align with applicable laws and company policies. The role also includes supporting corporate governance, contributing to policy development, and helping establish best practices for a growing company in a dynamic regulatory environment. Qualifications Strong grounding in Law, with knowledge of corporate, commercial, and regulatory frameworks relevant to energy, infrastructure, or technology sectors. Demonstrated experience in Contract Negotiation, including reviewing, drafting, and concluding commercial agreements with multiple stakeholders. Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including policies, terms and conditions, memoranda, and formal correspondence. Ability to identify, analyze, and manage Legal Issues across operations, projects, and partnerships, applying sound judgment and risk awareness. Experience providing clear, practical Legal Advice to non-legal stakeholders and senior leadership in a business environment. Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL. B or equivalent); admission to practice and good standing with a relevant bar association is preferred. Familiarity with Rwandan law and East African regional legal frameworks is an advantage. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively on-site. Experience in infrastructure, energy, transport, or startup environments is beneficial.
