Zambia Sugar Plc, an ABF Sugar Company and the leading sugar producer in Zambia, is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Technical Trainer – Agriculture. This is a permanent role within the Human Resource Department, reporting to the Learning and Development Specialist.
Key responsibilities include preparing, conducting, and evaluating agriculture technical training programs; writing on-the-job learning materials and assessments; contributing to root cause analysis during technical problem solving; guiding and advising frontline line managers on appropriate approaches to close technical skills gaps; partnering with frontline line managers in technical operational areas to identify competence gaps; supporting engineering works for effective cost management in maintenance, renovations, and construction; conducting learning need analysis for Agric technical operations at the Mill; developing on-the-job training programs; conducting on-the-job training using a variety of methods; conducting pre and post training assessments and giving feedback; participating in Agric departmental meetings and skills development committees; identifying competence gaps during problem solving meetings as part of root cause analysis; writing technical training modules and contributing to the development of work instructions; ensuring that all Agric technical training records are maintained; producing and submitting Agric technical training progress reports to line management; conducting formal upskilling programs (e.g., Agriculture Team Development Program); facilitating and managing Agric trainees, learnership, and apprenticeship programs; coordinating SHERQ legal/mandatory training required for specific licenses or certification; overseeing on-site activities of external training providers to ensure compliance with site-specific SHERQ policy and procedures; providing input into annual L&D budgets; providing on-site coordination of training venue bookings, managing training stationery and housekeeping; and promoting and adhering to ABF’s procedures, policies, and guidelines, including those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
Minimum requirements include a full Grade 12 Certificate, a minimum Diploma in Agriculture specialized in Crop Science or equivalent, preferably 3-5 years’ experience with an impressive, demonstrable track record and skills/experience gained within similar positions at a similar level. Candidates should possess business acumen, passion for development, ability to communicate effectively and assertively, influencing and negotiating skills, ability to work in a team, planning and organizational skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, computer literacy, and the ability to manage multiple projects and multi-task effectively.
